The launching ceremony of 120 Minutes of Love, a parent-child experiential theatre presented by Chung Ying Theatre Company and title-sponsored by HSBC Insurance, was successfully held today at the Multi-purpose Hall of Zero Carbon Building. Officiating guests included Ms. Louisa Tsang, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Insurance Hong Kong and Macau, Mr. Cheung Ho-yin, Artistic Director of Chung Ying Theatre Company, celebrity couple Mr. Louis Cheung and Mrs. Seah Ang Qi, and Mr. Wong Chung-kin, co-founder of Dustykid, the spiritual partner of this event, symbolizing the official commencement of the programme. Celebrities LIN Qian Yu (Coffee), Chu Xun, and Ng Ka Him also attended the event and shared their memorable experiences from participating in the priority session with their children earlier.
Immersive interactive theatre helps explore ways of communication
As children grow up, they often face various difficulties, challenges, and pressures in family, academic, and social aspects, which may lead to different degrees of mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Parents play a crucial role as a strong support system and a source of love and care.
Since family is the most fundamental and essential part of a child's growth, a harmonious parent-child relationship with less conflict is conducive to fostering positive values and establishing a healthy communication model, ultimately promoting the holistic well-being of the child.
Ms. Louisa Tsang, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Insurance Hong Kong and Macau, said, 'HSBC Insurance has been committed to supporting the development of local culture and arts. Our sponsorship of 120 Minutes of Love, a parent-child experiential theatre, not only demonstrates our support for cultural promotion but also fulfills our commitment to families - in addition to physical health and financial security, family relationships and the mental well-being of the next generation are equally important. For the sponsored charity sessions, we collaborated with various non-profit organizations to bring this meaningful activity to more beneficiary families. All participating families will receive the HSBC HealthPass, which offers exclusive discounts for medical services within HSBC Insurance's network, empowering them to safeguard their own and their families' health.'
Mr. Cheung Ho-yin, Artistic Director of Chung Ying Theatre Company, said, 'Chung Ying Theatre Company has a history of 46 years, with a dual focus on stage production and drama education. Regarding drama education, Chung Ying has always been concerned about the holistic development of children and has particularly emphasized the mental well-being of the next generation in recent years. 120 Minutes of Love, a parent-child experiential theatre, aligns with this direction by utilizing drama as a medium to rebuild the connection between parents and children, enabling them to become each other's strongest support and jointly tackle the challenges of growth and life. Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to HSBC Insurance for their generous support, which has helped garner extensive attention for this meaningful programme.'
120 Minutes of Love, a parent-child experiential theatre, will be held in July this year, with the theme of family travel combined with the five love languages. Through an immersive interactive theatre experience, parents and children will explore suitable ways of getting along. Participants will join a journey to the Amazon rainforest with a little girl named Ching Ching and her family. However, along with the joyful moments, there will also be troublesome times during the trip. Can the participants help Ching Ching's family overcome the difficulties they encounter? Through carefully designed games and interactions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the five love languages and find ways to communicate effectively with their children. At the end of the activity, a professional drama therapist will summarize and share insights, followed by a Q&A session. There will be a total of four public sessions, and tickets will be available for purchase through Art-mate starting tomorrow (June 9) at 10 am.
Louis Cheung and Seah Ang Qi share their secrets to harmonious parent-child relationships
During the launching ceremony, Louis and Kay shared their secrets to getting along with their two children and how they convey love and care through small gestures in daily life. Kay admitted that she is an only child and has always wanted a sibling to play with. She laughed that playing with her children brings her immense joy, and the family of four often takes their dog for walks in country parks. Louis also shared that his son's most enjoyable parent-child activity is riding with him on his motorcycle to watch local basketball games, chatting and enjoying themselves. He joked that they often have 'Men's Talk' and hopes to maintain this friend-like relationship.
Louis also shared his thoughts, saying, 'Being a parent is not easy. You see your own flaws reflected in your children, which makes you realize the kind of adult you don't want to be. You have to keep up with the times and learn how to communicate better.' Ms. Chan Hoi-yan, a drama therapist, was also present at the event, sharing communication techniques and explaining that the five love languages are built upon three fundamental principles. She provided insights on how parents can effectively establish connections with their children.
Coffee, Chu Xun, and Ng Ka Him, who had a priority experience of 120 Minutes of Love with their children, shared their takeaways at the launching ceremony. Coffee jokingly said that choosing her favorite love language was a difficult task because, in reality, she and her son 'Yan Yan' used all of them. She also hoped that 'Yan Yan' and his father could participate in the activity again to understand each other's preferred love languages. Chu Xun, who attended the priority session, discovered that she favored 'physical touch' and enjoyed 'hugging and kissing' with her daughter 'Mei Zhi', but it turned out that 'Mei Zhi' preferred 'quality time', reminding Chu Xun to express love using each other's preferred love languages. Ng Ka Him realized that the five love languages could be used interchangeably to express love, and his children, 'Monster Boy' and 'Monster Girl', now try to use love languages to convey their affection. For example, when the brother loses something, the sister will automatically help him search.
Dustykid's comic on the theme of 'Love Languages' to be released online in June
As the spiritual partner of this event, Dustykid created a comic themed around the five love languages, which will be released in June to promote the activity. Additionally, the 'Love in Reels' social media short video campaign will be launched in early July, encouraging parents and children to upload videos themed around the five love languages.
